Class Registration

f you are admitted for undergraduate study, you will be contacted by email in the months leading up to your arrival in regards to scheduling your classes.

The U.S. bachelor’s degree is comprised of at least 120 credits, with each class normally being worth three to five credits.You are required to be enrolled full-time, which means a minimum of 12 credits per semester (typically four classes), however the way our tuition structure works - you can take UP TO 16 credits for the same price as 12. It will be your choice as to how many credits you enroll in, between 12 and 16 for the established tuition rate. Please note that one "credit" is equivalent to one hour of classroom instruction time.

As a required part of the bachelor’s degree you will need to take approximately 15 “general education” classes as well as the required classes that are part of your chosen academic program. The general education requirements include at least one class in each of the following categories:  arts, life science, physical science, philosophy or literature, social science, mathematics, English composition, world perspectives, U.S. diversity and finally three courses from any one of 19 “themes” that are available to choose from. In addition, the “academic major” that you choose will require you to take at least 12 classes, some required and some of your choosing. There are 69 major programs of study that you can choose from.This program should be listed on your application for admission and then if you are admitted, this “major” will be listed on your immigration form I-20.

If you are admitted to a graduate program, you will need to take at least nine credits (three classes) per semester. These classes will generally meet in the evening or on a series of weekends. Once you receive your admissions letter, you should contact your program advisor, as indicated in your admissions letter, regarding registration for classes.
